Bluetooth Controller Sleep Mode

The reason your BT controller may not be working is because it went into sleep mode. A brief on what that is, and how to adjust the sleep mode setting is as follows.

Sleep Mode Overview

The Bluetooth Controllers come with a built-in “sleep mode” operation. The purpose of this operation is to preserve power and extend battery life as long as possible. In this mode, all button functionality is shut off and the bluetooth connection is dropped. The controller will enter sleep mode once the “sleep timer” has been reached following the last button press. The controller can be “woken up” with a single press of any of the buttons, and then will reconnect to your Proteus unit. The reconnection period can take anywhere from 1-30 seconds, and there will be a short blue flash on the controller indicating that the controller has reconnected and is ready for use. There is no limit to how long a controller can stay awake for, as long as periodic button presses prevent it from entering sleep mode.

Note: The default sleep timer is 10 minutes for most Proteus units, meaning that 10 minutes after the last button press on the controller, the controller will enter the sleep mode operation and drop the connection.

However, the sleep timer can be updated through the Proteus application to better fit your Proteus usage. The Proteus application currently offers 2 other options for the controller sleep timer at the expense of certain levels of battery life: 2 hours and 6 hours, where the battery life will be reduced to 1-1.5 years and 0.5-1 years, respectively.

3. From the Bluetooth Controller section in the middle of the screen the sleep timer can be updated via the button options offered.

  • 10-minute sleep timer
  • 2-hour sleep timer
  • 6-hour sleep timer

Tip: After the initial press of your Sleep Timer preference, tap the button again to ensure the controller received the update.

4. Your Controller's sleep timer should now be updated and you can press "Exit to Training View" on the right side to resume Proteus Use. You may update the sleep timer as often as you via these instructions.
