This procedure will walk you through manually testing your Proteus's Brakes - helpful in diagnosing the source of resistance issues. There is one per plane of motion and they function to supply your resistance. To test each brake follow the steps below.
- Navigate to the "Configure Proteus", from the bottom bar of the page, select "Calibration"
- Choose "Expert Calibration" mode
- On the right hand side you'll "Resistance mode", and underneath you should be in "Current Operation Mode: Calibration"
- Below there will be Base (left and right), Waist (up and down), Linear (in and out) followed by buttons to increase/decrease by 5 and 1, with the current setting shown in between
- Starting with the Base, Press the -5 to get to 0 as the setting value. This should make it super easy to move the arm left and right
- Now Press the +5 until you start to feel resistance against you when trying to move, note the setting value when you first notice resistance
- Continue to press the +5 button to a point at which it feels very difficult to move or as though it's locked, note this setting value too. Note, it overall will get more noticeably heavy prior, but we want the near impossible/locked feeling
If your Proteus is on floor stands please be cautious of trying to move the arm at these higher settings. - Repeat steps 5 through 7 for the Waist (but moving up and down) and the Linear (moving in and out)
- You can then let the Proteus team member you are working with of the setting values and how the differ from the expected below.
- Press "Quit Calibration in the top left to return to the Configure Page. Then tap "Exit to Training View" to head back to the main screen.
Note: The setting value for which you should start to feel resistance is roughly: 60
The setting value for which it nearly feels locked is roughly: 90
