Creating Custom Performance Tests

Warning: The Design A Test button found within Performance Testing mode will not create a repeatable performance test.

Step by Step:

  • Log into Proteus, select the Trainer Dropdown in the top right corner
  • Select Site Admin
  • From the list on the left, select Protocol Template
  • Select New Protocol
  • Name your performance test
  • Select the Publish button so your test will populate with the rest of your performance tests

Tip: Would you like to set the reps and resistance so they are the same for everyone that completes this test? If yes, select the Lock button. If you would like to be able to change the configuration of this protocol each time you start it, leave the Lock button unselected

We highly recommend locking your tests. If any aspect of the test is reconfigured during a re-test, Proteus software will recognize this assessment as a different assessment

  • Select the exercises you would like to test
    • Double clicking an exercise will add the reciprocal exercise to the test
    • If you do not add the reciprocal exercise, you will still have to complete the reciprocal movement at the same resistance to return to the start position of the test exercise.
    • Although you will have to complete the movement, no metrics will be recorded.
  • Once you have chosen all of the movements you would like to test, select Configure Session
    • To change the order of the movements in your test - Select the 3 bars to the left of the movement you want to relocate. Once those 3 bars are selected you can move the exercise to anywhere within the test.
    • Straight Sets will have the user perform each exercise until all sets are complete before moving on to the next exercise. Circuit Sets will have the user perform one set of each exercise in order until you complete all exercises. The exercise order would repeat for the number of sets assigned to the test.
    • Select paired with to pair and unpair reciprocal exercises. If the exercises are unpaired you will only get testing metrics for the selected exercise.
    • For Unilateral Exercises - When creating a user profile on Proteus, the user has to select if they are right or left handed. Whatever hand the user has selected in their profile will be the dominant side. Select if you’d like to test the dominant side, non-dominant side, or both sides

Note: You will not be able to edit the number of reps or resistance during testing.

  • Once you have completed these steps for each exercise, select Save Template
  • Your test will now be accessible when logged in and in Performance Testing mode
